چکیده

Background Botswana provides a surprisingly unfortunate case in looking at research-policy linkages on HIV/AIDS. The country has long been viewed as an African economic success story and remains economically strong. Yet, it has failed dismally regarding HIV prevention: the country now has one of the highest prevalence rates of HIV/AIDS in the world. It is estimated that 39% of adults between the ages of 15 to 49 have HIV/AIDS. However, Botswana also provides an interesting case since it has the financial ability to provide massive treatment and care programmes – and has moved ahead with them.
